Removal of Iron, Manganese, Ammonium and Nitrate

Removal of Iron and Manganese

In WinWASI 5.0 the dimensioning of filter plants for removal of iron is based on the kinetic principles and equations of VELTEN and HOLLUTA. The garin size of the filter material can be selected and with the inserted data for maximum surface load and maximum/minimum height of filter bed WinWASI 5.0 provides you with the filter dimensions required, back wash cycle, back wash water and amount of sludge produced.

Similarly to the above the diemsnioning of filters for removal of manganese is performed.

Nitrification

With WinWASI 5.0 you can also make the dimesioning of filters for ammonia removal by nitrification and calculate the change in water composition. The program evaluates the demand of oxygen and phosphorus according to the given treatment targets nominal flow, ammonia and oxygen concentration in the effluent. Dimensioning can be made for fixed bed filters and fluidized bed filters. Based on given values for specific nitrification rate, maximum and minimum surface load, height of filter bed and number of filters, WinWASI 5.0 calculates the filter dimensions, oxygen demand, sludge produce and recirculation ratio required.

Denitrification

With WinWASI 5.0 you can also make the dimesioning of filters for nitrate removal by denitrification as full or partial flow process and calculate the change in water composition. Substrates can be methanol, ethanol, acetic acid or hydrogene. The program evaluates the demand of substrate and phosphorus according to the given treatment targets nominal flow and nitrate concentration in the effluent as well as the amount of sludge produced.

Dimensioning can be made for fixed bed filters and fluidized bed filters. Based on given values for specific denitrification rate, maximum and minimum surface load, height of filter bed and number of filters. WinWASI 5.0 calculates the filter dimensions and partial flow for denitrification required.
